I want a long lived pet.?

I'm looking for a pet that will live for a long time. By long time I dont meen 10 years more like 30 or more. I don't want parrot or koi. Can't be to large. It needs to be hardy and capable of living in different climates. And finaly it can't be wildy aggresive, I need a pet that can be handled. Moneys not realy an issue but I dont want it to be wildly expensive. I'm thinking tortoise but I'm not sure what speicies and I'm open to other types of pets.
