Why am I not taken seriously by others with tattoos?

Every time I have a valid question (on Yahoo andother sources) about technique or protocol or what can be done and what can't...the responses are mostly all so negative. I am trying to research what will be a lifelong decision, and I can't just dash out to the tattoo parlor--I have two small kids and limited time alone. It seems I am treated as some dumb, flighty girl because I don't have clearly visible work, or a regular artist, and I am not immersed in tattoo culture. My tattoos are just as important to me as yours are to you...so why am I made to feel like such an idiot for asking serious questions about tattoos? I may not look like your typical tattooed person, I am a suburban stay at home mom, but...why are there so many that are so holier-than-thou?
